Here's what business users can expect from Google's latest smartphone that was announced on October As the world anxiously awaits Google officially unveiling its new slate of products , none are more anticipated than the Pixel 4. There have been dozens of leaks about the smartphones this year so we already have a fairly clear idea of what to expect for both Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL.
These are the features that business users will need to know about once they get the latest Pixel. Earlier this month, 9to5Google got the advance scoop on one of Pixel's most enticing features: a new and greatly improved Google Assistant. They said Google was making a point to highlight the "multitasking potential of just being able to ask your phone to complete actions. When the person gets a text asking for an estimated time of arrival, you can ask Google Assistant to automatically pull up your itinerary and it can figure out which text chain to put it in all on its own.
Pixel 4 and 4 XL are getting big discounts today. That's good enough for 90Hz. The new Android 10 features that will transform your phone. But first you'll need to take some steps now to set yourself up for success if and when your phone does go missing -- even if you only left it in the house. Google's Pixel phones are already known for their software updates, with upgrades and patches coming to Pixels before most other Android phones.
The key is Google Assistant's ability to not only control other apps but move back and forth between them just through voice commands. In July, Google said in a blog post that they have been hard at work on a motion-sensing radar called Soli. With Soli, Pixel 4 users will be able to use only hand gestures to skip songs, snooze alarms and silence phone calls.
You will also be able to unlock you phone using your face, all with the help of Soli. Google said their face unlock system is more advanced than the others because it will open your phone as you pick it up. No need for funny faces or pulling the phone closer or holding it farther from your face. Face unlock also will work no matter what position the phone is in. You will even be able to use your face to make secure payments and authenticate other apps.
Google's smartphones are well known for their top-of-the-line camera quality and Pixel continues to up the ante. Google also now provides a high-quality preview of your photo to show you what the final version might look like. The greatly improved Night Sight will allow users to take better photos at night and will even give you the opportunity to get some shots of the night sky. In photos shared with 9to5Google two weeks ago , you can see the extremely high resolution of the shots and clear night sky photos. The selfie camera lens is now captures degree field of view as opposed to the Pixel 3's degree view.
Google has released a detailed list of the hardware updates that users will find in Pixel 4 smartphones. These include a 3,mAh battery, a 6. And having a 3,mAh battery versus a comparable 4,mAh on its competitors doesn't help this phone either. Oh, and try to set that fancy 90Hz variable refresh display to run 90Hz butter smooth all the time using a developer setting?
Forget it. You'll be lucky to get two or three hours of screen time out of the device. OK, sure, but the Pixel 3 main camera was also exceptional. In the Pixel 4, Google added a second rear camera: A 2X zoom. The specifications on both cameras are Competitors now have three rear cameras, and most include an ultrawide in addition to a wide.
The celestial photography mode? It looks cool in a demo, but it's not particularly useful. It's a gimmick. Google's competitors have caught up big time with night modes, image processing, and machine learning. Google's camera is no longer unique. But the free cloud-based photo storage on Google Photos is still a good value, right? Sadly, it no longer is. Instead of storing the photos in "original quality," it only stores them in "high-quality" mode. That's the same as every Android, and the iPhone gets.
So, zero privileges here for owning a Pixel device. The 6GB of RAM on the phone doesn't always present itself as a problem, but if you keep a lot of apps open like I do -- such as Outlook, Teams, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook -- you'll begin to see performance degradation.

I tried to turn it on. It didn't work. It means Google didn't adequately prepare its carrier partners to accept BYOD devices on their network. Google should not claim that its phone works perfectly on all US carrier networks if it doesn't. Well, it doesn't.
But a Google Pixel? We are talking about the reference standard Android phone -- the very same it sells in its retail stores! But I'm not. I'm 50 years old; I yell at children in the streets, and when I pay a grand for a slab of finely engineered metal, glass, and semiconductors, I expect it to work.
That said, I am not waiting weeks or months to see if this issue resolves itself. If Apple can figure out how to make all its direct sale devices work between carriers without problems, then Google should be able to figure that out, as well. Yeah, maybe I'm buying my Google crap from Amazon or a big-box retailer from now on.
Perhaps it will do better next year, but I am very disappointed with this device. All these would be bad enough, but this smartphone has an ultra-premium price tag, and for that price, I expect much better.
