Xiaomi recently announced the Android 10 update for its Mi A3 phone has been delayed from a previously planned mid-February release. After the rising workforce costs and the trade war fallout, the coronavirus outbreak is another reason for electronics companies to reassess their reliance on the Chinese manufacturing sector. Some companies are reportedly already making plans to depend less on Chinese factories.

The Nikkei Asian Review reported that Google has commissioned factories in Vietnam to make the upcoming Pixel 4a and will do the same for the high-end Pixel 5 as well. The same article says Google will use factories in Thailand to make some of its smart home devices. LG has also moved the manufacturing of its smartphones from China to Vietnam. CNBC quotes research firm Kearney as saying it is feasible that many more companies will move manufacturing of modules and finished goods out of China.

However, moving the entire component supply chain out of China could prove to be more difficult. The coronavirus outbreak will only accelerate the trend to make smartphones, and indeed many other products, out of China. That was before the outbreak even gained a large foothold in Europe. The statement seems to suggest that some layoffs at GSMA will happen, but specifics were not revealed.

Some job losses due to these cancellations are inevitable. More and more major companies are now asking employees not to travel or to work remotely. All of Google's staff in North America now works from home, for instance. If the outbreak continues to get worse during the spring months, other tech could be reconsidered. In the long run, smartphone companies could make some major marketing and PR changes in a post-coronavirus world. We have already seen this happen with Huawei , Sony , and Xiaomi holding virtual press events.

Tips & Tricks XIAOMI Mi A3 When starting for the first time our new Android phone you will be asked to complete Activate phone tracking Chrome (browser); Maps (maps and GPS); Drive (documents); Hangouts (chat and messages). Google released Hangouts way back in and the service soon became a favorite among Android users. The app featured SMS integration.

If companies decide virtual press events can do the job just as well as a huge press conference or attending a trade show, we could see fewer of these events in the months and years to come. We are already seeing major tech companies like Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Apple, and others asking their employees to work from home. Companies and organizations from many other industries are following suit, potentially giving online collaboration software a big boost.

Google is giving anyone free access to more advanced features of its Hangouts Meets service until at least July 1. Microsoft is also offering a six month free trial of its Teams software. These kinds of moves could be remembered by businesses affected by the coronavirus outbreak, which may turn them into paying customers once the crisis is over. Similarly, people who have to stay at home will likely be using online delivery services more often. But people still need to get food and other necessities, and this crisis may make them use delivery services more often.

Finally, people who are stuck at home will need to get some distraction after work is done. They will be able to watch TV and use streaming services on their smart TVs and phones. Read : Best TV streaming services.

Video game purchases, on mobile, PCs, and consoles, could also get a boost if quarantines extend to longer periods. Ironically, this crisis comes along just as streaming game services like Google Stadia , Microsoft xCloud , and Nvidia Geforce Now are ramping up. Before the outbreak, there have been many doubts that such services would be popular. Up until now, we talked about the direct effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the smartphone industry. But the biggest effect, and potentially the most damaging, will be indirect, stemming from a potential global recession caused by the coronavirus.

If cases start to let up in the spring months, the final impact could be just a quarter or two of low to negative growth, perhaps mostly limited to industries with direct exposure. If the coronavirus outbreak persists in the spring and summer months, or if it comes back in force in the fall, the economic impact could be much higher and broader. Part of the reason was the extended trade war between the US and China, which raised prices overall for many products. Much of Europe was already suffering from a stagnant economy, even before the coronavirus came along.

In the US, the economy has been enjoying a record-long stretch of growth that was bound to end sooner or later. Even last year some experts were predicting a recession. If we see extended mass closings of schools, businesses, and more in the US and beyond, it could push the world economy into a recession. That could lead to lower smartphone demand, which in turn may cause affected companies to lay off workers and close production lines.

We could also see some consolidation in the industry, as smaller players are either bought by larger companies or shut down entirely.

Even before the outbreak, many phone makers were operating on thin margins or even carrying losses. All of this comes as the industry is trying to push 5G adoption in both phones and wireless networks. Redmi Y1 is a testimonial to the fact that the company has its ears on the ground and knows the pulse of the customers — and their requirements. The build of the Redmi Y1 is also pretty good and the slight curves along the edges at the back of the phone should make it comfortable to hold.

The selfie camera does a decent job during our initial testing and we will talk more about this in our review. So, is the Redmi 5A the entry-level smartphone king? Well, in some regards, yes but it does lose its crown in one aspect. Performance-wise, the Redmi 5A is, without a doubt, one of the best in its category. It also has an excellent display, a plethora of useful shortcuts and features, and a decent performing battery. Unfortunately, the king will have to give up its crown when it comes to camera performance as it falls short in that regard.

Like we said in our unboxing, the phone uses a chipset that is utilized by other smartphones that have almost double the price of the Redmi 5A, which also sometimes have worse specs in comparison. The phone is good for first-time smartphone buyer. At last we can say that Xiaomi seems to have cracked the budget smartphone segment.

It also gets the MIUI 9 out-of-the-box giving as much features from the operating system. In addition to the features, the IR Blaster can be handy sometimes. A great device for the people who want to get all Android features at the lowest price, the Redmi 5A is highly recommended. The phone packs a sturdy build, a good display, an able processor and GPU combination as well as a good rear camera in good lighting conditions. The formula for making a good overall package at enticing price points is one of Xiaomi's strengths.

This has also held it in good stead in the fast-evolving smartphone market in India. The only section where it failed to better its predecessor was in the battery life department, which could be improved on with better software optimisation. Price at Rs , Xiaomi Redmi 5A is definitely worth the money.

In fact, it is just a 4A Plus or a 4A Pro if you want to call it so. But improvements such as the dedicated dual sim tray, MIUI 9 and the lower price, still make it the phone to recommend for anyone on a tight budget without a second thought. It has all the required sensors, including an infrared sensor for remote control and also comes with dedicated dual SIM and microSD slots. The camera is decent for the price, but it could have been better and the battery life is not impressive. The Redmi 5A has a lot going for it -- the device is powered by Qualcomm processor, offers 13MP camera and 3, mAh battery.

The only missing point is the absence of fingerprint sensor. For those looking for alternative can consider buying the Nokia 2. It provides reasonable performance and battery life for the price, and good overall value for your money. However, we would only recommend buying the 32GB variant of this device.

The overall package is extremely value for money. We will soon review the product in the coming days. Stay tuned. Unlike the JioPhone, the Bharat 1, the Galaxy J2, the Moto C and the Nokia 2, however, the Redmi 5A doesn't compromise much in terms of hardware specs; it doesn't compromise much in terms of looks and feel either. When you look at the Redmi 5A, its design, specifications, 4G LTE connectivity and cameras, all this makes the phone stand out in the competition. Even at its regular retail price of Rs.

If you're a first-time smartphone user, or are only concerned with basic communications, the Redmi 5A would be quite a good choice. Camera quality is really the only major downside, and if that's important to you, you'll have to spend a bit more. The smartphone does offer some respectable performance, especially, for the first-time smartphone buyers.

It is just a souped-up version of the Redmi 4A, but with a cheaper price tag. You get what you pay for, right? You can add a microSD card of up to GB. There's a megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, both of which take shots that look fairly decent on the phone's own screen. Xiaomi is pushing battery life as a major feature of this phone, but the battery capacity is a fairly average mAh, so we'll have to wait to see how that works out. The smartphone features almost similar design, exactly the same display, hardware, almost the same camera among others. Rest is up to you to decide!

This device has been made to make furor in the low-end niche. It did. Thanks to a traditional Redmi appearance and good specs list the Xiaomi Redmi 5A could win customers hearts.
